The American Tinnitus Association

The American Tinnitus Association or the ATA has only one mission and that is “to cure tinnitus through the development of resources that advance tinnitus research.”

The ATA works together with the Scientific Advisory Committee or the SAC with the motivation that tinnitus has a cure. The association is happy to report that in the last five years there have been major advancements in the search for a tinnitus cure and the probability will soon become a possibility. But, research and studies will never be possible without dedicated people and of course valuable research funds.

The American Tinnitus Association began as a partnered effort of Jack Vernon, Ph.D. and Dr. Charles Unice who worked to champion the cause of tinnitus sufferers in 1971. They founded the American Tinnitus Association with the same goal of raising money to fund tinnitus research and this goal still stands to this day.

The ATA has conducted countless research studies in the treatment, cure and prevention of tinnitus. Since 1980, ATA has provided more than $5 million to various research projects in the effort of finding the cure for tinnitus. Some of these incredible research breakthroughs have been able to secure grants from the US National Institutes of Health or NIH and from the US Department of Defense. Currently, ATA is looking for members and donors who would like to help them discover more possibilities in the cure for tinnitus.
